Cargreen lies on the Landulph peninsula, on the west bank of the River Tamar, some eight miles upstream of Plymouth Sound and overlooking a wide expanse of water. This is the very fringe of Cornwall with the opposite bank in Devon. The village includes a yacht/sailing club with deep water moorings, community centre and a primary school.

The St Mellion International Golf Resort lies also about three miles distant providing a wide range of golfing and country club facilities.
