Your Move's team in the north-west prepare for the Manchester 10K

May 5, 2016Tags: Charity | Challenge

RunningA team of Your Move staff from our Northern division are taking part in the Manchester 10K run on 22 May with the aim to raise much needed funds for the Manchester Adult Cystic Fibrosis Centre at Wythenshawe Hospital.

Jonathan Rudd, Chris Hayes, Tim Ashmore, Jack Outred and Richard Kerfoot – all from branches in this area – are determined to complete the course and there is a good reason why.

Jonathan explains more:

“We’ve been training hard to make sure that we can complete the run – which is one of the favourite events of its kind in Britain. And while we originally decided to do it for fun, because we have a range of abilities and some of us are getting a little older, we decided we needed something to aim for.

"I very recently lost a dear friend, who was only 29, and who was being cared for at the Adult Cystic Fibrosis Centre at Wythenshawe Hospital so the group have very kindly said that they are happy to run in her memory and raise much needed funds for the Centre.

"Their original aim was to raise £1,000, which they have already smashed with donations in excess of £2,000, however the Centre needs as much as it can get. Cystic Fibrosis is a horrible genetic disorder and this Centre is one of the largest centres treating it in the UK – so all monies raised goes straight to the patients for their welfare and benefit. All donations, no matter how small, would therefore be gratefully appreciated to support us in our fundraising efforts.”
