At the very south-western tip of the UK is the charming town of Helston. It holds the title of being the most southerly town in Great Britain, further south still then nearby Penzance, which is 12miles away. On the banks of the River Cober and within close proximity of the largest natural lake in Cornwall – Loe Pool – the area around Helston and the Lizard Peninsula is a mecca for wildlife and so for wildlife enthusiasts. Helston still maintains many town traditions, epitomised by ‘Flora Day’, an annual celebratory day during which four traditional Cornish dances are performed. Helston is also home to a highly-championed Town Band, a band which dates back to the 20th century. Property in the town includes lovely bungalows and stone semi-detached houses and terraces.
