Walderslade is situated in an enviable position on the slopes and valleys of the North Downs. The name Walderslade is believed to come from the Saxon language, meaning "wood in a valley".

Walderslade valley was originally totally wooded however over time the woodland became restricted predominately to the higher ground of Lord Wood and Dargets Wood. It is thought that the Romans first started clearing the woodland, paving the space for many new residential developments, comprising of the individual and uniquely designed purpose built properties that exist today.

The centre square of Walderslade village as well as being home to St William's Church, comprises a large range of facilities including a healthcare centre, supermarket, pubs, takeaway shops, a hairdressers, dry cleaners and public library. Access to the square’s facilities is facilitated by ample free public car parking.

Other local attractions include the nearby Buckmore Park which offers a world-class motorised Go Cart track and several notable historical buildings including Rochester Castle, Leeds Castle and Rochester Cathedral.

Walderslade has excellent transport links, with it being easily accessible to the M2 and M20 mortorways, providing easy access to London and the Channel Tunnel. With mainline rail stations also found in nearby towns such as Chatham, Rochester, Gillingham, Rainham and Maidtsone, Walderslade residents have a good offering of rail services into Central London. As a popular commuter area, Walderslade also benefits from commuter coach services, with Kings Ferry one of the most popular companies.Situated to the South-East of London, Gatwick, Heathrow and Stansted are all within easy reach, with Gatwick situated only a 50mins drive away.

Walderslade has a large selection of good primary schools including Kingfisher Community Primary School, Oaklands Junior School and Walderslade Primary School. Secondary schools include Greenacres and Walderslade Girls School.
