Belper is a town roughly in the middle of Derbyshire and located within the East Midlands of England as a whole. Belper dates back to at least the time of the Domesday Book, and became a centre for nail--making in the eighteenth century, and later became a centre for the construction of stockings and other hosiery. Belper was also the home of the factory of J. W. Thornton, known for making chocolates! In the modern day, Belper has become a picturesque town, with gorgeous green spaces and quaint cobbled streets mixed with Victorian architecture. The town contains a mixture of high-street and artisan stores, as well as excellent restaurants and lovely pubs. Housing in the town ranges from beautiful apartments converted from historic houses, terraces perfect for young professionals and larger family homes.
