Deal is a town on the eastern coast of Kent and the south-east coast of England. Having existed from at least the time of the Domesday Book, Deal became a harbour and, during the seventeenth century, became notorious for the smugglers in the area. Modern Deal is thankfully free of smugglers, and is instead a bustling and beautiful seaside town with plenty to see and do. The town has a pier perfect for avid fishers, whilst those who enjoy more active sports can make use of the several local gyms and leisure centres. Deal High Street, meanwhile, is a haven for shoppers, having won the Telegraph's High Street of the Year Award and containing a fantastic range of independent and high-street shops. The town also has a range of excellent restaurants and cafes, making it wonderful for foodies. Historians can visit Deal Castle, built by Henry VIII, or one of the several museums in the town. Deal is well-served by a range of independent and state schools perfect for growing families, whilst young professionals will enjoy the commute to London taking only an hour and a half. Deal is also perfectly situated for holiday makers, with travel to Calais via the Channel Tunnel taking under two hours. Properties to rent in Deal range from beautiful apartments in purpose-built complexes to gorgeous terraces perfect for young professionals and growing families to larger family homes with expansive gardens.
