Ramsgate is a historic coastal town in the east of Kent an in the south-east of England. Originally having been a fishing village, Ramsgate later grew to become a port during the eighteenth century, and was later the location for Vincent van Gogh's schooling. Modern-day Ramsgate is a beautiful and busy town, complete with gorgeous sandy beaches to stretch out on during the summer to a fantastic range of both independent and high-street shops. Historians can enjoy the local Maritime Museum and explore the Ramsgate Tunnels, tunnels dug during World War Two in order to shelter the townspeople. Foodies can enjoy a range of great restaurants in the town, from the ubiquitous seaside fish and chips to more exotic fare. Even those able to exhaust the wide range of fantastic things to do in Ramsgate itself can take short trip to nearby Folkestone, Dover or Canterbury to find even more to see and do. Young families can choose from a range of excellent local independent and state-run schools, whilst professionals will be delighted with the short commute time to London of around an hour and fifteen minutes. Properties to rent in Ramsgate range from apartments in beautiful converted historic homes to more modern, purpose-built flats; from gorgeous terrace homes perfect for young professionals to more expansive family houses with beautiful sea views.
