A place built for joy has just arrived in Leven. Christie Park, Leven, officially reopened its newly refurbished play area on 3 October 2025, offering families and children a bright, vibrant space to explore and enjoy.

This project, backed by an investment of £165,000, replaces older equipment that had reached the end of its safe operational life. Fife Council What makes this space stand out is its inclusive design: a wheelchair roundabout, sensory-friendly features, springers, spinners, slides and climbing units. It’s been thoughtfully crafted to welcome children of all ages and abilities.

Councillors involved expressed pride in the development. Linda Erskine underscored the council’s commitment to “good play value for children of different ages and needs”. Meanwhile, Colin Davidson celebrated the new area as a safe, welcoming place where children can “play, learn and grow”.

Behind the scenes, the funding came from a mix of sources: the local council, the Scottish Government and the Community Renewal Fund via the Levenmouth Area Committee (approved November 2023).

In short: Christie Park’s new play area is more than just swings and slides, it’s a community space designed with intention, accessibility and fun at its heart. Families looking for fresh and inclusive outdoor play will find a great new destination.
