Why move to Leven?

Managing Director, Director Stewart Filshill says it’s no wonder that Levenmouth continues to be such a popular area for buying, he says “We are lucky to have such a beautiful coastal landscape within the area. The beaches are magnificent and prove to be a major draw to the area. Golf plays a major part within our area and we are fortunate to have some outstanding courses locally. St Andrews, the home of golf, is only 14 miles up the road. Also, the restoration of the Leven rail link is very exciting news for the local area and will not only make Leven much more accessible but also provide good commuting to Edinburgh”.

Local market

There is something for everyone within our local area, a thriving flat market, affordable family homes, modern private developments and some outstanding Victorian villas in both Leven and Lundin Links. Lower Largo is a popular holiday destination and has many beach front properties that are bought as holiday homes.

Location

Leven is located at the mouth of the River Leven, between the picturesque fishing villages of the East Neuk and the main towns of Kirkcaldy and Glenrothes. There is no better way to enjoy the stunning coastal views than the coastal path, this is a real walk on the wild side, the first walk of its kind in Scotland which extends for approximately 78 miles, starting at the Forth Bridges and finishing beyond the Tay Bridges. It gives spectacular views which cannot be seen from the coastal roads.

History and sport

Lower Largo is the birthplace of Alexander Selkirk, the castaway sailor whose adventures were immortalised by Daniel Defoe in the story of Robinson Crusoe. A statue above a doorway on the Main Street commemorates his birthplace. Jack Vettriano, Scotlands most successful artist was born and grew up in Methil as did David Mach, a sculptor whose work includes the ‘Big Heids’ sculptures in Lanarkshire.

Golf is a major draw with two courses at Leven Links and Scoonie. Leven Links is an outstanding Links course with a rich history dating back over 150 years. One of the very oldest pieces of golfing land anywhere in the world.

The local area is a golfers paradise with a wide selection of magnificent courses within a short drive. St Andrews, the home of golf, is located less than 15 miles away.

Levenmouth Leisure Centre is an all-weather attraction with a large, modern indoor swimming pool, complete with flumes and a wave machine, as well as great sports facilities. There's also an independent cinema where you can take in a movie in the evening.

Properties

This small geographical area has property types and locations to suit most requirements, from starter flats as cheap as 420,000 to luxury villas in Lundin Links at over £500,000. The East Neuk villages Lower Largo, Upper Largo and Lundin Links are extremely sought after, enjoying a beautiful coastal location and recreational activities. Leven and the surrounding villages offer excellent value for money properties with three-bedroom family homes available from approximately £90,000 and four bedroom family villas in private estates from approximately £200,000. The links area of Leven has some beautiful Victorian properties, all with close proximity to the beach and golf course.

Restaurants and shopping

The local produce within this area is world class, from the farming to the fishing and artisan independent suppliers. Leven High Street has a pedestrianised shopping street with several national brands.
