Cupar’s History

Our branch is located in the thriving market town of Cupar which covers almost a 30 mile radius, and is steeped in history. Once a bustling market centre, Cupar still celebrates its medieval character. According to Visit Scotland, “the town boasts a number of fine historic buildings including the 17th century Preston Lodge, Chancellor's House, the Corn Exchange, the Old Parish Church and the Mercat Cross which dates from 1683.”*

Cupar’s Coast

Cupar also has some of the most attractive countryside in Scotland and is just 20 minutes away from award winning Fife beaches. For those who love the seaside, this could be just the place for you to live as you’re never too far away from a walk on the beach or a paddle in the North Sea.

Cupar’s Education

Education is provided at the renowned Bellbaxter High School, where interestingly Scottish folk-rock musicians, The Proclaimers once studied. Cupar is also just fifteen minutes from St Andrews with its world classed University where of course, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge fell in love. So if education is important to you when choosing somwhere to live in Scotland, Cupar should certainly be a contender especially with its celebrity heritage!

Cupar’s Entertainment

The famous village of Falkland with Falkland Palace and many quaint shops is located just 11 miles from Cupar and this is also where the TV series 'Outlander' was filmed. This particular part of Fife is also famous for the many top class golf courses and The Old Course in St Andrews is known as the ‘Home of Golf’.

There are also a number of nice bars, restaurants and country inns throughout North East Fife and two Michelin-starred restaurants including The Peat Inn. Furthermore, Cupar is home to The Scottish Deer Centre, a beautiful country park where you can see different species of deer and birds of prey.
