It’s official – Your Move is a registered letting agent in Scotland

Posted 16/08/2018 by Press Office

We’re delighted to announce that, following the significant efforts of teams across Scotland that Your Move has met the criteria required under the new lettings code of practice in Scotland and, unlike some agents, is now on the official register of letting agents – with a registration number to prove it.

The news follows months of preparation by the Your Move management team - led by Brian Moran, our Lettings Director (Scotland) - and the dedication of staff who have committed time and effort into passing their NFOPP exams which they were required to do to enable Your Move to be registered.

To be fully compliant with the Code, Your Move also had to provide evidence that it has separate client accounts, belongs to a Client Money Protection Scheme and holds professional indemnity insurance – it’s something not all agents in Scotland can claim and which further enhances Your Move's great lettings proposition.

Brian commented: “The Letting Agent Code of Practice sets out the standards expected of letting agents operating in Scotland with the main aim being to raise professional standards and to help tenants and landlords to understand what they can expect when dealing with a letting agent – and how to challenge them if they don't get it. As part of this all letting agents in Scotland had to join the new register of letting agents by 1 October and, to qualify, had to meet set criteria including passing certain exams which I’m delighted to say Your Move staff across Scotland – including senior staff in our Property Management Centre – managed to do.

It’s great that Your Move has already been able to satisfy these requirements and is now registered - especially as I am aware that many customers will now only consider letting agents who are on the register. I’d personally like to thank everyone for their efforts in ‘making this happen’ and hope we can continue to gain even more satisfied landlords and tenants in the future.”
