Congratulations Port Vale FC
Its many congratulations to Port Vale FC who has been announced as the winner of the Your Move EFL Community Club of the Year Award following tough competition from five other high calibre regional winners.
The award came in recognition of the fantastic support the Club has given their local community and how this has positively influenced people’s lives, bearing in mind physical and mental wellbeing, employability, diversity and inclusion as well as the challenge of tackling loneliness, particularly in the midst of the Covid-19 crisis.
Port Vale and their Foundation focused on reducing isolation by engaging vulnerable young people in programmes designed to improve their skills, with the judges impressed by their authenticity and their impressive ability to mobilise their community.
The Club also managed to provide widespread support to those in need through the delivery of 300,000 meals as well as maintaining projects that focus closely on smaller diverse groups of individuals, such as the sport and dance youth club. Their impact was personified through ‘Valiant Vera’, who has been supported over the past 12 months and whose progress with the Club has resulted in local GP and MP plaudits.
Your Move has sponsored the Award as the EFL’s Official Communities Supporter. A role we’ve fully embraced and hope to build on in the months to come as our teams work more closely with grassroots clubs and communities associated with our branches. Included in this will be the announcement of winners of our, soon to end, Your Club Your Kit competition which offers grassroots football teams, of all abilities and within all age groups, the chance to win a free football kit.
Louise Hudson, our Marketing Director commented:
Congratulations to Port Vale. I was lucky enough to be on the judging panel for the regional winners and can confirm that all of the entries were of an extremely impressive standard, and Port Vale is a worthy winner amongst winners.
The way in which all the Clubs’ volunteers rally to respond to the needs of the local communities, particularly during COVID, is humbling. Despite the fact that no football was played for months, these footballing communities went above and beyond any call of duty to come up with innovative and engaging programmes to assist supporters’ physical and mental well-being. Your Move is very proud and simply delighted to be associated with this award.”
